Service Opportunities

Hunger Coalition Food Pantry and Free Dinner
We distribute non-perishable food items every Wed. from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for hospitality and to help pack food. Contact us for more information.

Tuesday Night Dinners
Feed the hungry the second Tuesday of every month at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 201 N. River St. from 4:30 pm-6:00 pm. Contact us for more information.

Arbor Hospice & Home Care
Arbor Hospice is in need of volunteers who can visit with patients who reside in their homes, nursing homes or assisted living. If you would like to “Touch a life forever”, please consider becoming an Arbor Hospice Volunteer. Call and ask for Stephanie at 734.794.5396 or Sherry at 734.794.5128. No experience is necessary, they provide training.

Emmanuel House for the Elderly
Emmanuel House is a home for older adults who are no longer capable of living alone and have limited support and no resources. The home is established to uphold the value and dignity of the gift of long life as bestowed by God. Volunteer to be a companion and friend to an elderly neighbor. No experience is necessary, they provide training. Contact Mary Zielinski at 734.669.8825 to volunteer.

Growing Hope
Where does your food come from? Support sustainable living and build community by volunteering in their community gardens. Growing Hope helps people improve their lives and communities through gardening and they promote learning, improve nutrition, and advocate for more sustainable communities. Neighborhood Senior Services
Since 1975, Neighborhood Senior Services has been “neighbor helping neighbor” to elderly residents of Washtenaw County through companionship, home maintenance, transportation, and random acts of kindness. Contact Katie Olex at 734.712.7256 to volunteer.

VISION
VISION (Volunteers Incorporating Service Into Our Neighborhoods) is Eastern Michigan University’s office of community service and social activism. It is dedicated to helping students and staff become actively involved in service, address social issues, and meet community needs. VISION is a great resource to help you earn your pre-student teaching hours, meet your program requirements, become involved at EMU and meet other great people.
